Short writeup:
The 2023 National Junior College H2 Chemistry Paper 2 is a rather ordinary paper. There are visible signs of effort from the teachers in trying to have a contextual application question but it's does not quite make the cut.
From afar, the paper does not look mind-blowing. However, upon trying the paper, the questions are rather tricky. It is an insightful paper, not beceuse of a major anchor question with a long story. It is not because the questions are set up to make life difficult for you. But this paper tests students on the minor details that they often overlook.
At the same time, I can't help but feel that the school could have made the paper trickier and slightly harder and decided not to. There is potential to this paper but not sure why the teachers held back.
Some students may choose to attempt this paper as a timed practice but my personal preference would be to use it as a topical revision. It is mainly a paper for you to explore the different ideas and question types with the focus largely on techniques.
